Wade B Interview

Can you tell us about your musically background, please?

NO!!! lol.....Nah but mannnnn where do I begin? I remember music flowing through my veins as far back as watching "In Living Color" when I was a lil young'n. Shawn on the 1's and 2's. Fine a** Fly Girls dancing to the beats. Anywhere from that to me being in the band from elementary all the way to high school. Shout out to Dem Mighty Meadowcreek Marching Mustangs!!! lol.

How and when did you first meet Shay?
I first met Shay by simply coming to the Sole Munki store. We actually didn't start chopping it up until I started working there. If my memory serves me correct, that would be almost a year ago.

Do you feel any pressure to do good with Sol Munki backing you?

No, I don't. In fact, I don't let something like "pressure" bother me. Pressure only deters you from how you originally approach any given situation. The way I see it is...once Sol Munki is on top of its game, I will be on top of mine. No if's, and's, or but's about it.

On your website it say and i read "The Official Web Site of the Multi Talented Recording Artist WADE B" what other talent's do you have?

I design...more on the lines of graphic designing. That's what I'm actually going to school for. Yes, I'm in COLLEGE. I'm doing it for my mother. She envisions so much for me. But hey, if the right "offer" comes along...I'm out!!! lol. What else? I've been told I'm a good UNO player. lol. Man spades, bones, poker. Anything you want to do, come holla at me!!!

In the start of "wipe me down" you say something about almost sold that beat so i'm guessing you are a prouder, with that being said are most of your beats sample driven are or are your beat compose of your own melody?

TECHNICALLY...that wasn't even me in the beginning of the song. I was featured on "Sun Lotion" and I was on the third verse. What you just asked is along the same lines of how the "oh-so-subtle" beef began. The single got spins on HOT 107.9 here in Atlanta but everyone kept calling it that "WADE B. song", so naturally others on the track started hating. So I said "fu*k it" and just scrapped that project. That song alone could have blown everyone up that was on the song, but they didn't see it that way.....But BACK to the question lol...I am NOT a producer and don't plan on going down that road.

(editor note:sorry about that)

When you are creating, is there a certain environment that you require?

Silence!!!

Can you tell us what a typical day is like for you?

Wake up.
Go to school.
Go to the stu.
Go to Sole Munki.
Go to a female's house.
Feel free to arrange those in any order. lol.

What do you think it is about your music that attracts people to it?

The way I make people laugh to "reel em in" grabs their attention. I feel as if once I reach that status where I can say anything and it's hot (Lil Wayne) then I'll start schoolin some of these non-talent has-been artists on how to rhyme.

On your website it states that you will be dropping a mixtape every month on the 23 is that true?

That is so freakin' true! The concept came to me a few months back (maybe June). I figured, my birthday is on the 23rd, so my favorite number is 23, and hell, I've been rockin' Jordans since the second grade. And with so many people dropping mixtapes sporadically, I felt as if the impact of just one mixtape does nothing, so why not drop one every month?

Now keeping with the theme of dropping a lot of songs I remember Lil' Wayne speaking specifically some time ago on the idea of staying
personal—staying within yourself—as the key to becoming successful. Both of these facets he
mentioned are interchangeable, yet requisite nonetheless. What kind of challenge, if any, does
that pose for you?

First, I never heard that statement. And coming from him, there's no telling what that could actually mean. But if that's what I think it means, then I agree with it. The moment I cut off a lot of different avenues in my life, is the moment everything started to fall in place. So I wouldn't take that as a challenge but more along the lines of I'm already doing that myself.

Any thoughts on the current state of Hip Hop?

Man...with Obama on the rise, I can't be stopped.
Take that how you want.

Are you working on any particular projects at the moment that we should look out for?

Nothing major besides my monthly mixtapes. Few collabs here and there so my main focus is getting my voice heard.

Any last words?

Thank You!
